Full range spectral domain optical coherence tomography using a fiber-optic probe as a self-phase shifter.

چکیده
We present a full range handheld probe type spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) method. Here, the sample arm is composed of a tilted fiber-optic cantilever scanner; thus, the phase shift concurrently occurs while sample scanning. With the phase shift, we could achieve a full range complex-conjugate-free OCT image with no additional phase shifters in the reference arm. To realize this technique, a magnetically actuated probe was adopted. Full range SD-OCT images of a pearl, human fingernail, and human tooth were subsequently obtained using this suggested probe. The scanning range and acquisition speed were 3 mm and 20 frames/s, respectively.

Single-step method for fiber-optic probe-based full-range spectral domain optical coherence tomography.
We propose a single-step method appropriated for a fiber-optic probe-based full-range spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT). The fiber-optic probe was scanned over a sample with a magnetically driven actuator. In the reference arm, a phase shift of π/2 was applied during two neighbor axial scanning, from which the complex spectral interferogram was directly reconstructed. Since the...

Assessment of the peripapillary nerve fiber layer and macular thickness can be determined in ophthalmology using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Decreased nerve fiber layer thickness and macular ganglion cell thickness in optic nerve ischemia have been correlated with visual field loss. OCT allows deep optic nerve head evaluation which helps understand pathophysiology of diseases. Furtherm...
متن کاملPolarization-sensitive spectral-domain optical coherence tomography using a single line scan camera.
Polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography can be used to measure the birefringence of biological tissue such as the human retina. Previous measurements with a time-domain polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography system revealed that the birefringence of the human retinal nerve fiber layer is not constant, but varies as a function of location around the optic nerve head. Her...
متن کاملPhase retardation measurement of retinal nerve fiber layer by polarization-sensitive spectral-domain optical coherence tomography and scanning laser polarimetry.
Phase retardation of in vivo human retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) is quantitatively measured by two methods--polarization-sensitive spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (PS-SD-OCT) and scanning laser polarimetry (SLP). An en face cumulative phase retardation map is calculated from the three-dimensional (3-D) phase retardation volume of healthy and glaucomatous eyes measured by PS-SD-O...
متن کاملPulsed-source and swept-source spectral-domain optical coherence tomography with reduced motion artifacts.
Significant motion artifacts may arise in conventional spectral-domain optical coherence tomography due to sample or probe motion during the exposure time of a CCD array. We show, for the first time to our knowledge, that the motion artifacts can be greatly reduced by short illumination of individual CCD pixels and that this can be accomplished by use of two distinct classes of light sources: b...
